Frequently Asked Questions

What is the waiting period to see a dermatologist?

The current waiting list is approximately 6 – 8 weeks for an initial consultation.

If your GP considers you to have an urgent condition, they can call us and request an urgent appointment.

UPDATE: Owing to insufficient dermatological services in our area, and staff shortages in our practice, the waiting period for new patients has lengthened.

Do I need a referral?

You may see Dr Moss without a referral, but you will require a referral from your GP or other doctor to claim through Medicare. This will allow you to claim your Medicare rebate for the initial and any subsequent consultations.

Your referring GP will receive a report following your initial consultation.

Fees?

There are fees payable for consultation and treatment(s). This will be discussed when you make your appointment.

What should I bring to my appointment?

To help us assist you on your arrival please remember to bring the following items to your visit:

  • Your referral letter
  • Your Medicare card or DVA card
  • Any pension card(s)
How long is my referral valid?

Referrals from your GP remain valid for 12 months from the initial consultation. Subsequent consultations for the same condition are covered during this period.
A new referral is required after this 12 month period, or if you need to see Dr Andrew Moss for an unrelated/new condition.

A referral from another specialist is valid for 3 months.

Does private health insurance cover my consultation?

No, private health insurance does not cover your consultation.

However, your private health insurance may cover certain non-PBS medications prescribed by the doctor.
